Madhyama Vyāyoga: Drama workshop & performances

Madhyama Vyāyoga: Noopura Bhramari, in collaboration with Kalagowri, organized a Felicitation Program to the dancers of Akhanadam bharatam smaret, who has participated in IKS Mela and performed on 2022 July at New delhi AICTE Auditorium. Programme also featured a Bharatanṛtya recital by Kum. Shishira P. Vittal, followed by ‘Madhyama Vyāyoga’, a Kannada adaptation of the Sanskrit drama by Bhāsa Mahākavi, on 4^th September 2022 at Kalagowri Auditorium. The drama was conceptualized and directed by poet and theatre personality Vid. Korgi Shankaranarayana Upadhyaya, with music by Vid. Prasanna Kumar, make-up and costumes by Sri Vijaya Benacha, and lighting by Sri Manjunatha Adiga.

Selected 10 participants underwent an intensive 8+4-day training program to master the ancient drama, incorporating contemporary elements into their performance. The primary objective was to immerse participants in the Nāṭyaśāstra-based theatre traditions. The performance was well received by the audience, leading to six additional shows in reputed venues, all performed to packed houses. Notably, the play was staged at Shiva Gurukukam of Vishnugupta University, Gokarna, as part of an edutainment and knowledge dissemination program for 500 university students. PI Dr. Manorama B.N. and Dr. Shalini Vittal played pivotal roles as Ghatotkacha and Brahmana, respectively, while Kum. Sahana, an intern of the Nṛtyaśilpa Yātra program, performed as Madhyama.
